I've been painting on loose linen for a month now and really like it. So, for you painters out there, I've put together two videos talking about the linen I've been using and why I like it for plein air painting.
As always, your comments and "likes" are much appreciated.
Hi Scott, The linen is a good idea, I'm enjoying your blog, especially about the cold, I'm in upstate NY, and it's been cold here too. I just started my own blog about painting outdoors. http://mattchinianpaintingblog.blogspot.com/ Thanks,
Great videos Scott! I just received some oil primed linen canvas yesterday and I'll be taking some away with me to Morocco as well as panels, as it will cut down on weight and bulk in my suitcase. The only difference to your method is that I will tape it to the board all the way round with masking tape before starting work :-)
Hi Haidee-Jo, Wow, Morocco huh? Sounds so exotic and fun! I think you will like the flexibility of the loose canvas for capturing different size formats / croppings. I also use masking tape at home but left if behind when I went to Mexico. I was surprised how well the clips held the canvas and I didn't have to deal with sticky tape. Have a great trip and I look forward to your posts!
Hi Christy, thanks for your question. I use either Laminall or Miracle Muck to glue the linen or canvas to the panel. You can Google them or check with your art supply store.

How do you mount the linen to the birch? Just wondering how to use the "keepers". Thanks!
