Hallett Peak by Scott Ruthven 20"x16" Oil on canvas |
This majestic peak climbs to 12,713 feet in Rocky Mountain National Park. The view I've painted is just above Dream Lake. Hallett Peak sits right on the Continental Divide and really is breathtaking.

Magnificent painting, Scott! So strong and powerful and yet it has a beautiful softness, too.

Thank you Julie, much appreciated.
DeleteI like the composition; that vertical tree contrasts nicely with the mountain sweeping down from the left.
ReplyDeleteThank you Keith! I wanted to contrast the majesty of the mountain and the tree.
DeleteI agree with Keith. And I think Dream Lake is aptly named - what a beautiful parking spot for an easel!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen, painting up there can be tricky...a) so many things to paint b) the sun moves very fast and is blocked by the mountains early.
DeleteBeautiful landscape painting. I love the atmosphere of this work.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jimmie. The atmosphere it the theme...it is so incredibly beautiful in person.
DeleteMagestic while capturing the interplay of light that creates a certain softness. Powerful composition. Scott.
ReplyDeleteMajestic and dramatic yet the interplay of light allows a level of softness. Beautifully painted and great composition.
