My Homemade Pochade Box - Video

Painting en plein air forces quick decisions and makes me to paint instead of over-thinking everything.  When I decided to paint outside in earnest, I researched Pochade box options and decided I could make my own, custom box....a downside of having to be creative in every aspect of my life.  Although it took longer to make and cost more than I thought, I have a nice kit for oil painting outdoors.

Later, I'll post links to sources that inspired the design.

Let me know what you think.

  2. Haidee-Jo, you are the first person to comment on my blog - Thanks!
As for "pochade box envy", any self-respecting plein air painter should have 3-4 boxes, heck, why stop there? Happy painting!

  3. Hello Scott. And congratulations on a amazing design for a pochade box. The wet panel carrier in the lid and mechanics of how the painting panel is removable is just a great idea. Hope you post more on how you put this all together because it is truly inspired.
I am sure it will be the source of many a fine work.
